The eastbound Interstate 30 exit to Northwest Drive in Mesquite will be permanently closed starting Sunday, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Drivers who want access to Northwest Drive and are heading east on I-30 will need to use exit 56A, prior to Gus Thomasson Road. The closure is part of the 635 East Project, a $1.74 billion roadway revamp spanning 11 miles of I-635, from U.S. 75 in Dallas to I-30 in Mesquite, according to TxDOT. Construction began in spring 2020 and will last through late 2024.

Other closures

  • Various lanes along westbound Interstate 30 at Galloway Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly beginning Monday through Saturday.
  • The right lane of the westbound Interstate 30 frontage road at Gus Thomasson Road will be closed on Monday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
